![]() Another adventure brought the New Mutants to Asgard to face Amora the Enchantress and Loki, and in Jotunheim Wolfsbane met the Wolf Prince Hrimhari, who possessed her same powers (albeit of magic origin). The two confronted each other, but Craig disowned his daughter, still believing she was possessed by the Devil. While there to contain the nearly almighty mutant Legion, Wolfsbane met again her surrogate mother Moira, but also Reverend Craig, whom she finally found out was her father. Wolfsbane still struggled to accept some of her teammates’ habit, to the point of avoiding Magik for her link to demonic world and even Nightcrawler because of his devilish appearance, but she slowly came to question her origin when a mission brought her back to Scotland. Albeit it turned out Xavier had formed the new team under the influence of the Brood Queen, who wanted to infect them with her eggs, the New Mutants decided to stay together even after the ploy was revealed and the Queen defeated, sharing a number of adventures together. Impressed by the young ones’ deeds, Xavier accepted to train them as a team of “junior X-Men”, later named the New Mutants. ![]() Albeit inexperienced, the students managed to free Xavier from the Hellfire Club, and to bring him back to the school. Without the X-Men to ask help to, Rahne, with the alias Wolfsbane, joined forces with her friend Danielle, with Sunspot, Karma and Cannonball, and went to the rescue. When the young mutants were still simple students, Professor Xavier was kidnapped by Donald Pierce, the White Bishop of the Hellfire Club. Slowly, she came to accept herself and her powers. Luckily, she managed to bond with other young mutants in the school, becoming close friends with Danielle “Mirage” Moonstar, who could communicate with her via a telepathic link also when she was in her wolf form, and even developing a crush on Sam “Cannonball” Guthrie (while she had many difficulties in dealing with the sorceress Magik). In his School for Gifted Youngsters, Xavier soon found out that the real challenge with Rahne wasn’t simply the one of teaching her how to keep at bay her animal instincts, but rather to conciliate her religious upbringing with the nature of her powers, a conflict that often became self-loathing. When Rahne was old enough, Moira took her to the United States, where she entrusted her to a friend of hers, Professor Charles Xavier, who could teach her how to control her mutant powers. She was found by Doctor MacTaggert, who defended her from the mob and took her in, acting as a mother figure for the young mutant in the following years. Panicking, the girl ran all night, until she reverted to her human form, exhausted. When she was still a girl, however, Rahne developed mutant powers for the first time, and she turned into a wolf… but her father believed her to be a werewolf and, thinking she was possessed, he gathered a crowd of terrified villagers and chased her with torches and pitchforks. Rahne was raised in a harsh and severe environment, with the Reverend forcing on her a strict moral code and a nearly fanatic religious sentiment. Rahne’s mother died on childbirth, while Doctor Moira MacTaggert helped her giving birth to the baby, and she was later entrusted to the care of Reverend Craig, who however never told her he was her biological father, and raised her pretending she was an orphan he had adopted. ![]() Rahne Sinclair was born in Ullapool, Scotland, the daughter of a Presbyterian minister, Reverend Craig, and a local prostitute. Her name already appeared in William Stryker‘s list in X2: X-Men United, but this is her first live action appearance… right in the team she debuted with in the comics. Among her companions, Wolfsbane is perhaps the best suited to star in a horror film, practically being a werewolf, but in the movie it looks like she’ll bite more than she can chew (quite literally, in this case). Among the young mutants held in the mysterious facility there’s a girl portrayed by Maisie Williams, who appears to be somewhat feral: that’s Rahne Sinclair, better known with her alias Wolfsbane.
